James’ Obituary
James Arne Sorensen passed away peacefully at Sutherland Care Home in Peace River.
Jim was born May 27, 1938 at the Peace River hospital.
As a child he loved the farm, riding horses and reading. He played baseball with the Dixonville Dynamos for 16 years and then on The Old Timers team. He also really enjoyed curling in the winters.
He worked on the farm, seismic, Alberta Hail & Crop Insurance and the Feeders Association.
Jim had a kind heart, strong faith and always had time for a visit, coffee, or a game of cards. He volunteered wherever needed. Led 4-H and kept track of the cemetery.
Jim loved dancing – there’s and where he met the love of his life. Jim and Margie were married on July 19, 1985. They were blessed with 3 children, Aaron, Ada & Nathan. Aaron married Sun-Young Kang and have 3 children, Alexander, Maxwell & Ameila. Ada married Mike Dollevoet and have 3 children Lexis (Jonas), Ren & Tye. Nathan married Jenny Leitch and have 4 children Cole, Riley, Reece & Taylor. He was so proud of all of them.
Jim leaves to morn his wife Margie Sorensen, his children, grandchildren and one great grandson Hudson. His siblings Nancy Miller (Bruce), Karen Burgess (Ken), & Ken Sorensen (Helen). He is predeceased by parents John & Margaret Sorensen.
A service will be held at the Dixonville Community Hall at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 22, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dixonvile Strang Presbyterian Church or to Sutherland Place (Peace River Long Term Care).
