SMIT, Jakob – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jakob at the Trenton Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of 61 years to Louise Smit (nee Van Rhijn). Dear father to John (Linda) Smit, Janette Smit, Nancy (Tod) Hammes, Debby Smit, and Monica (Doug) de Wal. Proud Opa to 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his brothers Klaas and Sikke Smit. The family will receive friends at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021 from 11:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. Funeral Service will follow in the church at 2:00p.m. Private interment to follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Trenton Christian School, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or TMH Foundation would be appreciated.
