Jacqueline “Jackie” Claudia Edelstein
Monday, August 17, 1925- Wednesday, August 18, 2021
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my Mother, Jacqueline “Jackie” Claudia Edelstein (Proulx), who passed peacefully on August 18th, one day after her 96th birthday.
Born in Aylmer, Quebec, Jackie was the daughter of the late Steven and Leda Proulx (Lacroix).
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Susan Edelstein (Richard Wells) of East LaHave, NS.
She was predeceased by her husband Ray Edelstein, and ten siblings; George, Laurent, Florence, Loretta, Paul, Steve, Rose-Marie, Hilda, Ronnie, and Rudy.
Interior Design, fashion and painting were always her passions. Her daily practice of drawing continued until just days before her death.
Jackie managed large beauty salons located at Freiman’s, a landmark department store, and Ogilvy’s, both located in Ottawa, ON., later owning and operating her own establishment, Orchid Salon, until she took retirement.
The familial bond between mother and daughter ran deep. In her final years Jackie moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia to live closer to Susan and Richard. She later passed away in their home.
Susan and Richard would like to thank the entire care team including; Dr. Dave Martell, Lori Giffen, Matt Naugler, Lois Ronald, Debbie Skinner, Catherine Crocker, VON nurses, and many family members and friends who provided love and support, especially cousin Suzanne Allen-Proulx, and Jackie’s dear friend, Danielle H. Kavanagh.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society.
Cremation Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg.
