Obituary
Jackie Gauthier
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dearest friend, Jackie (née Chevrier), at the age of 56 years.
Jackie left us suddenly on October 6, 2021. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 38 years Marcel, children: Stephanie (David Starling), Cassandra (Ash Enns), Marcel Jr (Lauren née Frost), and Dyea (Daniel Measor); grandchildren: Grady, Reagan, Sophie, Noah, Brooklyn, Alora, Ethan, and Kaidyn; sisters, Carolyn (Lennon Dupasquier) and Lucy (Joe Szabo); mother in-law Céline Gauthier; brothers and sisters in law Rheal (Laurette), Nicole (Norm), Normand (Terry), Arlette (Mike), Joelle (Marc), and numerous nieces, nephews, special friends, and colleagues.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents Simone and Clifford Chevrier, father in law Alfred Gauthier, grandparents Henriette and Stephen Swan, aunt Lucille Gaultier, and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jackie & Marcel found love at a young age while working with Mulder Construction in 1980. They married in 1983 and welcomed their first child the following year. Jackie’s world changed forever in 2008 while witnessing the miracle of life and birth of her first grandson. Her grandchildren were her world, and she cherished every second she could spend with them with no time labelled as wasted.
Jackie enjoyed camping, baking, painting, game nights, and wound down her evenings with solitaire on the computer or crime shows on tv.
Jackie lived for hosting and taking care of others, always making sure your drinks and belly were full, there was always old country music playing in the background. She was an honorary or second mom to so many, her door was always open and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Over the years, Jackie has worn many hats – entrepreneur, student exchange program hostess, chairs held on multiple community organization boards, and volunteer – just to name a few. Her biggest joy was taking newcomers under her wing, making sure they had everything they needed to start their new lives here. This passion and love fueled the need and opening of Simply Seconds.
Jackie instilled hard work ethic and never shied away from getting dirty or doing the job that needed to be done. She wore her heart on her sleeve and took advantage of all the teaching moments she could. She rarely took time for herself and always needed to be busy or have a project on the go.
Mom, this happy hour is for you!
The family would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for the food, kind words, condolences and wishes. Memorial donations can be made to the MS Society of Canada or to Central Plains Cancer Services.
