J Robert Lawson Tuesday September 28th 2021

Robert (Bob, or ‘Chief’) Lawson, born July 22, 1936 in Ottawa, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2021, in his 86th year, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Dear husband of Frances (nee Nicholls), loving father to Heather (Cyril Butler), proud grandfather of Ann Marie (Khalid), Robbie (Courtney), Kelly, Annie and Owen, and new great-grandfather of Nour. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Ada (Barrett), his dear brother and sister-in-law Cliff and Carmen, his wife Ann, and his beloved daughter Kelly (Steve). Bob will be lovingly missed by so many friends and family, particularly his brother-in-law Barry Nicholls and his wife Myrna, his brother Kevin, his sister Mary Ellen, and all of Cliff and Carmen’s children. The island of Barbados will also miss Bob.
Bob was a firefighter for 37 years and retired as a District Chief; his brothers in the OFD were his second family. He loved and was loved by his family and friends; he loved his job; and he loved his life.
A kind and gentle man. He was one of the good guys.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ottawa Mission or to a charity of your choice.
The service will take place at St. Paul Anglican Church 20 Young Rd, Kanata on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. The family will be receiving guests at the church prior to the service. Due to COVID restrictions, people wishing to attend the funeral must register with Hulse, Playfair and McGarry by calling 613- 233-1143. Those attending will be required to wear masks and socially distance.
