J. Anna Burke
August 18, 1932 – December 28, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anna Burke on December 28, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the Age of89. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Greta (Condon)Gallant.
Anna enjoyed a long career with Co-Op Building Supplies until her retirement. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Parish and the CWL, and the Cape Breton Irish Benevolent Society.
Anna resided on Gray St. in Ashby for over 60 Years and recently resided at the MacGillivray Guest Home with her sister Georgie for whom she watched over every day. Anna thoroughly enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles from the newspaper and playing cards with her close friends at MacGillivray’s.
We would like to thank the staff of MacGillivray Guest Home for their care and compassion.
Anna is survived by her daughter Margaret Murphy, sons David(Elizabeth), Robert (Donna) and Kevin, a sister Georgina Gallant, grandchildren Scott, David, Blair, Anne Marie, John, Debra, Jennifer, Christopher, Karen and Nicholas, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Anna was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, daughter Karen Stephens, sister Margaret MacLeod, brothers Gerald, Kenny and Albert.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Sydney Memorial Chapel and funeral service will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to RC. MacGillivray Guest Home or Charity of choice.
