It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of our much-cherished Mother and Nonna in her 90th year. She is reunited with her beloved husband Rocco “Rocchino”. Isabella was surrounded by her daughters Josie, Mary (Tars), Antoinette (Paul), and Joanne (Joe), who loved her immensely. Nonna will be forever adored by her grandchildren Natalie (Chris), Carla (Chris), Stephanie, Matthew, Robert (Devon), Laura (David), David (Karah), Jessica (Sam), and her special grandson Michael who welcomed her into heaven.
Predeceased by her brother, Michele, her sisters Teresa and Lucia, and many other family members who she loved and missed dearly.
Survived by her sister-in-law Rosanna DeBellis and her brother-in-law Antonio Mirabella, who always took special care of her. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Canada, Italy, and the United States.
Isa, as she was affectionately known, left her family in Accadia and travelled by herself to a new country to join her husband in Hamilton in 1954. As family members immigrated, Isa was always the one to welcome and care for them in her home.
Ma was the most selfless and dedicated mother who sacrificed so very much to provide us with the most loving and nurturing home. We cannot imagine life without you, but we know that everything we do for our children we learned from you.
Nonna, you are, and will always be, the centre of our universe. Words cannot describe how much you mean to us. We are forever grateful for everything you have taught us and will continue to strive to make you proud. We are so thankful that you took us to Italy and will never forget those beautiful memories in your hometown. We will think of you and miss you every day. Love you, Nonna.
Isabella was a devoted parishioner of Incarnation Catholic Church. She was very involved in her church community and was loved by everyone.
Isabella had many passions, including cooking, gardening, shopping, and socializing. She was a talented seamstress and amazing cook, but her greatest joy was always her family. We will always remember her generous heart, strength, positivity, and the countless happy memories talking and laughing around her kitchen table where everyone always left with a full heart and a full stomach.
Our family would like to sincerely thank friends and family for their love and support. Thank you to Father Charlie for visiting his “bella” and for his daily prayers. Thank you to Mandy and Tiffany, her caring PSWs, for your compassionate care and for loving Nonna. To the St. Joseph’s Hospital 4th floor Tower, our immense gratitude to Dr. A. Boyle, Dr. J.P. McMullin, Nurse Manager Karen and the exceptional care from the entire nursing team for our Mom and for also helping us through this time.
