Obituary of Isabel Fraser
On June 1st, 2021 at Gateway Haven in Wiarton, Isabel Gwendolyn Fraser (née Hawkins), in her 91st year, leapt into the arms of Jesus at 7:05 p.m. Isabel joyfully joins her husband Craig Fraser and sons, Ian and Jimmy Fraser, in glory. Survived by her daughter and favourite son-in-law, Ellen and Paul Farrow, her adored grandkids, Conner and Emily Farrow, brother-in-law Cam Fraser and many nieces, nephews and cousins on both the Hawkins side and Fraser side. She will also be missed by her special niece Trisha and her many friends in Owen Sound. Special thanks to the “super-hero” staff, nurses and Dr. Van Dorp at Gateway Haven, for their kindness and care.
Isabel was born in Owen Sound to Archie and Leena Hawkins on April 16th, 1930. She was affectionately called “The Girl” as she had three brothers, Bill (Margaret), Ken (Audrey) and Art (Shirley) Hawkins. Isabel’s early career was as an operator for Bell Canada. She also worked for Co-operators Insurance, Hawthorn Security and the Owen Sound Sun Times. She helped her husband Craig run the Coach House Press and aided him when he needed a hand at DG Printing & Mailing. Isabel adored her grandkids. She was a loving, caring friend to many women in the numerous Bible studies she attended and sang with her ladies group in senior homes for many years.
A private memorial service to celebrate Isabel’s life will be held at Ventry Cemetery, Dundalk. The service will be led by Pastor David Oppertshauser. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to donate in Isabel’s honour may do so by giving to Tytoo Gardens Canada. Online condolences can be sent by visiting Isabel’s memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
