Iris was born April 21, 1941 in the Foxford area, married Steve in 1958 and farmed in the Meath Park and Henriboug area. In 1986 they moved into Prince Albert and continued farming till 1995.
Mom and Dad travelled to various places and fell in love with Yuma, Arizona where they enjoyed many winters in the sun and away from the cold.
Mom was an avid garage sale lover and she loved to collect and use coupons at the grocery store. Mom was involved in the St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic women’s group for many years.
Mom loved to cook making perogies and her cinnamon buns with her grandchildren. In May, we all were together in Prince Albert and Baba was teaching the grandchildren how to make perogies.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Any activities they would be involved with, Baba would be the biggest cheerer in the crowd.
Mom worked at the PA Tree Nursery for 28 years, when she retired. She then worked at Gray’s Funeral Chapel for many years and enjoyed the staff tremendously
After Dad’s passing in 2005, Mom decided to spend the winters in Yuma once again with many friends. It was there that she met Alfred at a dance, and they became very close and inseparable friends. In 2009 they were married and Mom moved to Altona, Manitoba where Alfred had a home. Mom and Alfred were known by everyone at The Palms In Yuma, Arizona. They enjoyed their time dancing at every dance and enjoying music.
The family would like to thank Dr. Grobler, Dr. Davis, Palliative Care and Home Care staff as well as the nurses on the 5th floor of the Victoria Hospital for being so compassionate during Mom’s illness.
