Obituary of Irene Marjorie Lunde
It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Marjorie Lunde (Matice) announce her passing on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Irene was born on March 13, 1937 at her parent’s homestead at Torch River, SK. She lived in and started school in Torch River until she was 8 then moved to Armley, Carlea and then to Nipawin. Irene moved to and worked in Regina where she met her husband Ronald Lunde. They were married at her mother’s house in Indian Head on October 8, 1960. Ron and Irene moved to Corrine and then to the Lunde family farm in 1970. There they farmed the land and raised pigs and cattle. Irene enjoyed her large vegetable garden and growing beautiful flowers. She started working with Home Care in Milestone when her children were older. They moved in to the town of Milestone in 1994 and then to Regina in 2003. Irene loved reading and crosswords. She also made the best lefsa that her family would fight over every Christmas.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Ronald Lunde; mother Eleanor Matice; sister Margaret Walker; half sister Sherlotte Tuck; and brothers Arthur, Richard and Ivan. She is survived by her sister Jean Hoeft and family; sister Ruby Lord and family; sister Bernice Matice and family; and sister-in-law Edith Matice and family. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her children: Paul (Kenda), Scott, Gary and Tanya (Curtis). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Angelina (Ash), Paul (Alyssa), Chelsea, Linaea, Emily, Arianna, Keira, Nichola, Brynn, Trey, Hunter, and Aria.
The family will be honouring Irene’s request to not have a service. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Telemiracle or the War Amps.
