Obituary of IRENE JANICE WITT (nee ZUBRICKI)
IRENE JANICE WITT (nee ZUBRICKI)
June 19, 1946 – May 29, 2021
With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, sister and grandmother on Saturday, May 29th at the age of 74. Remaining to cherish her memory is her son Michael (Lisa), grandchildren Abigail and Jack, brother Ernest (Marilyn) and dear friend Klaus. She will also be missed by many friends, including those who are part of Winnipeg’s ballroom dance community which she became an avid member of over the past 25 years.
Mom devoted every day of her life to family, which was the most important thing in her life, as a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Nothing gave her life greater meaning and purpose than to be able to provide an amazing meal or to lend a helping hand or ear. Work was also an important part of her life, where she met many close friends and took great pride and satisfaction in a job well done. After she got married and moved to Steinbach she spent her early working years commuting to the University of Manitoba Veterinary Lab where she worked as a medical laboratory technologist. Later in life she worked on the Phlebotomy team briefly at Victoria Hospital and then for over 20 years at Health Science Centre until retiring in her seventies.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Denise Klassen and Dr. Czaykowski at Health Sciences Centre and to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Irene will be laid to rest with her parents, Michael and Jean, at All Saints Cemetery with a private service.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of IRENE
