Armstrong, Irene Mary (nee Croteau) December 29, 1932 – November 6, 2021
Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Lookout Ridge Retirement Home on Saturday November 6, 2021 in her 89th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years Joseph S. Armstrong (2012). Dear mother of Jane (Ken), Linda (Larry), Randy (Diana), Wayne (Céline) and Terry (Sandra). Cherished grandmother of 16 and great grandmother of 19. Survived by her brother Peter Croteau (Pat) of North Bay, ON. Predeceased by her parents Francis Xavier Croteau and Norine Hanrahan.
Irene faithfully volunteered at the Welland Hospital for 23 years and at Open Arms Mission for many years. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Lookout for their exceptional care and to the many staff and residents who shared their love with Mom. A special thank you to Dr. Dooler and her palliative care team for their exceptional personal care. Thank you to Pastor Bob and Cathie Cretney for blessing Mom with their ministry over the past 13 years.
Family and friends will be received at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Tuesday, November 9th from 2-4 pm (reservation not required). The funeral service to honour Irene’s life will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 10th beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
The service may also by viewed via livestream by going to the funeral home’s Facebook page that day. Capacity limits are in effect and masks are required to be worn. Please call the funeral home to reserve a seat for the funeral service (905-892-5762).
