It is with sadness the family of Irene Margaret Cairns announce her peaceful passing which occurred with family by her side at the Colville Manor on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Born on October 21, 1921, Irene was in her 100th year of St. Peters Harbor and Souris, PE. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Roy and will be forever remembered as a gentle and loving mother to Ruth MacKenzie (Red) and Judy Dixon (Leland; deceased).
Irene was a dear grammie to Rebecca Masuhara (John), Debbie Rodgers (Thomas), Linda Dixon (Jimmy MacDonald), Troy MacKenzie (Liz) and great grammie to Riley, Keirnan, Jayden, Landon, Molly, Hannah, Lachlan, Matthew, Luka, Jonathan, Maxwell, Jace and Cameron. She is also survived by her brother Stanley Drake and brother-in-law Michael Hayden. Predeceased by her parents Florence and Earl Drake, sisters Vera Ward (Vic), Ruth Stewart (Cecil), Florence Hayden and sister-in-law Claire Drake.
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place for immediate family. A liturgy of the word will be held at the funeral home with interment to follow in St. Theresa the Little Flower church cemetery. Due to public health restrictions, all services are by invitation only. If so desired, donations can be made to SRS Breakfast Program (K-12) or the PEI Humane Society and would be appreciated by the family.
