Obituary
HOLBIRD, Inez
Inez Marie Holbird (nee Hickling) passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on January 21, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Care Home in Saskatoon. Inez was predeceased by her husband Alvin Holbird, daughter-in-law Joan (Leroy) and grandson Derek (Lyla). She is survived by her children Larry (Dorothy), Lyla (Doug) and Leroy, two step-daughters Bonnie and Darcy, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. Born in Cantuar, SK Inez embraced life in rural Saskatchewan later moving to Rockglen where she and husband Ken raised their family and ran the local cafe. Years later she met Alvin, and the two were married in 1968, settling for over 30 years in Lucky Lake where the pair worked side by side at the RM office until joint retirement. The Holbird home was always a gathering point for family, especially grandkids, where fishing adventures and garden raids followed by card games filled the days. 1999 saw Alvin and Inez move to Saskatoon where they enjoyed the sunset of their years until Alvin’s passing in 2008. A Private Family Service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in Saskatoon. The Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph’s Home for their exceptional care and accommodation. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Joseph’s Home, 33 Valens Drive, Saskatoon S7L 3S2. Arrangements in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
