BENDER, Ina Lydian (nee Roth), 95, of Tavistock passed away peacefully at PeopleCare Tavistock on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
She was born in East Zorra Township, Oxford County on November 10, 1925 a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Lydia (Lichti) Roth.
Ina had been an active member of Cassel Mennonite Church and a volunteer at the Self Help Shop in New Hamburg. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting.
Ina married Lavern Bender on June 30, 1945. He predeceased her on January 5, 2011. She is survived by her four children, David and wife Verna Bender, Marie and husband Wayne Ropp, Joseph and wife Debbie Bender, Donald and wife Kris Bender; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; her sister, Elma Yantzi; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Katherine Roth, Raymond and Audrey Roth; her sister-in-law, Florence Metzger and husband Lorne and many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was predeceased by her sisters, brothers and spouses, Edna and Milford Bender, Mahlon and Erma Roth, Doris and Andrew Yantzi, Mervin Roth, Wilmer “Bill” Roth; his brother-in-law, Elmer Yantzi and several “Bender” brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A family visitation was held in the Francis Funeral Home, Tavistock on Sunday, May 2, 2021 which was followed by a graveside service and interment at East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery, 16th line. Pastor Wanda Roth Amstutz officiated.
