We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Ilsa “Elsie” Brown on May 6, 2021 at the age of 97. Elsie was born in Edmonton, AB, on November 04, 1923.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Duncan McBain Brown, in 1976. She is survived by: Colleen (Mike) Hayes of Kelowna, Jim (Carol) Brown of Edmonton, and Cheryl (Ed) Abbott of Kelowna.
Elsie worked for the Workers Compensation Board in Edmonton, AB, for 35 years. She raised 3 children on her own. When Elsie retired, she spent many years in Jasper, AB, where her daughters lived and worked. She spent many years helping out at Maligne Tours in the Chalet, bussing tables and chatting with the guests. She loved chatting with people, and she had a passion for the cooking industry.
In 2011, Elsie moved to Kelowna to be closer to her daughters. Though she had moved away, she was always thinking of her son in Edmonton. Elsie’s heart was still in Alberta where she would often say she was “born and raised.”
“Mom, you were not only the best mom, but you were also our best friend. Thanks for always being there. We will miss you forever.”
Never lost, always loved.
