Obituary of Ida Palma
Palma. Ida (née Ciolfi)
Passed away peacefully on March 26, 2021, in her 96th year, surrounded by her family at the Port Colborne Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Raffaele (1993). Loving mother of Aldo, Mary Little and Tony (Beth). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Brandon (Laura), Blake (Natalee), Jessica (Brett), Christina (Simon), and Natalie, as well as by her great-grandchildren Brielle, Peter and Milo. Ida is survived by her sister Nunziatina D’Alessandro (late Domenic). Predeceased by her brothers Crescenzo (late Cesarina) and Camille (late Maria Domenica), and by her sister Giovinna Luciani (late Angelo). She is survived by many nephews, nieces and extended family in Canada and Italy.
Ida was born February 7, 1926 in Castropignano, Campobasso, Italy. She immigrated to Canada in 1952, settling in Port Colborne. She was a parishioner of St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, past member of the Catholic Women’s League, and member of Club Castropignano. She also belonged to the Friends Over 55 Centre Bocce Club for a number of years.
Family came first to her. She was happiest when everyone was gathered together having great conversation over a multiple course meal, glasses of homemade wine in hand. She was very proud of her large, bountiful fruit and vegetable garden, as well as the flowers that any passersby would admire.
We will miss her many stories, her unconditional love, and sage words of advice.
A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Scher and Dr. Chan, and the healthcare staff at Port Colborne Hospital, who ensured her comfort.
Arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. Due to COVID – 19 pandemic, there will be a private family Funeral Service.
If so desired and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Health Foundation for the Port Colborne Hospital. Online memories, photos, condolences and donations may be shared at www.armstrongfuneralhome.ca
