Obituary of Ian Harrison
After a brief illness at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa on Wednesday October 20th, 2021 at the age of 95. Dear husband for 62 years of the late Mary (September 2014). Much loved Dad of Catherine (Ron) Hauck of Stittsville ON and Susan (late Uffe) Hansen of Squamish BC. Proud Bopa of Lib (Stefan), Jenn, Chelle all of BC, Allison (Kirby) of Kanata ON and the late Jonathan of Stittsville ON. Great Bopa of Sydney and Kelsey of BC.
Ian was born in 1926 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, emigrating to Canada in 1948. He joined the then Canadian Bank of Commerce, Sparks Street Branch in Ottawa, where he met Mary who emigrated from Britain with her family in 1949. Ian was with the CIBC for 40 years, working in Ottawa, St. John’s NFLD, Halifax NS and Toronto. He retired in 1988 as a Senior Vice President, International Department at Head Office in Toronto.
In 1997 Ian and Mary moved back to Ottawa (Pine Hills Kanata) to be closer to family and for the past two years has resided at Hazeldean Gardens Retirement Home in Stittsville.
