Hubert Krampert

7 octobre 2021
It is with deep sorrow and with profound joy and peace we announce the passing of our father, grandfather/Opa, Hubert Krampert. He passed peacefully at home, on the Feast of our Lady of the Holy Rosary surrounded by family on the morning of October 7, 2021 and is now with his Risen Lord and with his predeceased wife, and love of his life, Helma. This year would be their 70th wedding anniversary. Beloved son of Alfred and Veronika Krampert of Oberthulba, Germany. Proud father of Barbara-Anne, Stephen (Marcelle), Patricia, and Thomas (Joni). Loving brother to Hildegard and predeceased siblings Stephan (Anna), Paulus (Huberta), Elmar u Wahlburga. Beloved Opa to Braeden, Daniel, Katherine (Brython), Matthew, Michaela, Michael and Erich. Great grandfather to Kallen. He will be deeply missed by family, coworkers and friends.
As a teenager Hubert became a chef/pastry apprentice in Karch’s Weinstube & Bäkerei, Bad Kissingen. He also travelled to Obersdorf where he continued his studies and became a master chef/butcher at Hotel Berghof in Allgäu. Hubert met Helma in Bad Kissingen at the Ströhlein Kaffee Haus where she would go on Sunday afternoons for coffee and cake. Helma, left Germany for new adventures in Canada in 1950. Hubert followed her to Canada in 1951. He and Helmtrud were married 3 days later at St. Patrick’s Parish, Toronto. They began their life humbly. He worked as a chef at St. Joseph Hospital, Toronto and in April of 1958 he opened the kitchen of the South Peel Hospital [now Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga]. He worked as the head chef for 30 years. Freshly cooked meals were prepared daily for patients, staff and visitors. He took pride in making healthy meals and freshly baked goods. The Doctor’s Dinners were always a big hit. Hubert involved himself in community service to help the poor through the St. Catherine of Sienna Parish, Mississauga, St. Vincent de Paul Society. As part of his service to the community, he also for 32 years visited every Sunday the elderly in the Extended Care across from the hospital. He would sit with the elderly, pray with them. In November of 1979, known as the Mississauga Miracle, Hubert went over to the Seniors Home for his Sunday visit and instead of praying with the elderly he helped to evacuate the patients. His family went to Etobicoke to remain with family friends. He joined them a day later. Hubert also enjoyed singing and belonged to the St. Catherine of Siena Church Choir in ‘64 and the Harfentöne German Male Choir in mid 70’s. As a strong Catholic, he joined the St. Patrick’s Parish Kolping Group. He was devoted to the Holy Rosary all his life and attended yearly Retreats at Mary Lake, King City for 42 years. He shared his faith, commitment to helping others and strong work ethic with his family. Summer vacations at Wasaga Beach, Lake Morrison and Parry Sound were always a treat with Hubert bringing along his cooking utensils and his Coleman stove.
He and Helmtrud enjoyed retirement with trips to visit family in Germany, gardening and Harfentöne Chor Singing tours. They enjoyed helping to raise grandchildren and having family around them. Several family photos reflect the many family meals shared around holidays, birthdays and summertime. In later years he cared for his wife and life partner as she struggled with Dimentia. In April of 2020, Helmtrud passed after a debilitating stroke and contracting Covid in hospital. Hubert continued to look after the family home, being actively engaged in gardening and keeping house. Since his retirement he was the ‘head chef’ at home. He enjoyed baking for the family and even at the age of 96 baked his birthday cake this past July. In the Spring of 2021, Hubert’s health began to decline. After a recent illness he passed peacefully in the family home with family members present.
Funeral mass to be held at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church, 625 Atwater Avenue, Mississauga on Thursday October 21. 2021. Due to COVID-19, attendance at the service is limited; you must register your attendance a link will be provided once it is available.
