Ryan, Hubert “Hugh” Reginald MWO Ret’d (CD2) – Age 82 of Kingston, Kings Co., passed away peacefully Sunday May 23, 2021 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born September 2, 1938 in Sea Brook, Digby, Co, to the late Harris and Loretta (Clairmont) Ryan. Hugh is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline (Morris); sons, Hugh (Marilyn), Windsor, Michael (Andrea), Middle Sackville; grandchildren, Celyne (Nathan), Shawn, Keenan and Serna; great grandchildren, Max and Zoey; sister, Tootsie Emin, Yarmouth; brothers, Gerald and Bruce, both of Ontario, Terry, Yarmouth. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Una. Hugh was raised in Yarmouth, joining the RCAF in 1955, serving proudly in Canada, Europe, and the United Nations in Tel Aviv, Israel. Upon retirement he was the Chief Stores Person for the Air Cadet League of Canada at their Air Cadet Training Camp, Greenwood for 9 years. Hugh was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 98, Kingston, NS, Greenwood Chapter of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping and was also a volunteer with the Greenwood Military Museum Bolingbroke Team. Hugh enjoyed gardening and curling, especially proud of his “8 Ender” game. He was an avid researcher for his family history, tracing his Ancestry back to the original settlers that arrived on the Mayflower. Cremation has taken place. A Legion Tribute will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday August 25, 2021 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 98 Kingston. Interment will follow in North Kingston Cemetery.
