Obituary of Howard George Cornick
December 3, 1948 – February 4, 2021
Howard George Cornick was born December 3, 1948 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, he passed peacefully at home on February 4, 2021.
Howard received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Regina. While there he met the love of his life, Sharon Seghers. They married in Tribune, Saskatchewan on May 22, 1971. Howard worked in the banking industry in Calgary for 35 years, until retirement in 2004. His love of golf saw him retire to his Dutch Creek cabin in Fairmont Hot Springs, B.C. Howard disliked the snow, which led to many enjoyable winters in the Arizona sunshine; golfing and making new friends, sightseeing, and trying new restaurants. Howard like to say he never owned long pants, because he wore shorts 12 months of the year!
Family and friends were central in Howard’s life. He always had time for a game of cards, playing marbles, or just sitting on the deck enjoying happy hours and chats with friends and neighbours. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his smile. Howard will live in our hearts forever.
Howard is survived by his loving wife and best friend Sharon, three sons Jason (Tara), Michael (Angee), Steven (Rachelle), and five grandchildren Benjamin, Audra, Ian, Sean, and Joshua. Howard had a large extended family of siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Howard’s last wish was to have his ashes scattered in his beloved Dutch Creek area. When restrictions are lifted and it is safe for family to gather, we will honour his wishes.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
