Peacefully, at the Valley Manor Nursing Home, Barry’s Bay, on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Joan Hovinga, age 70, formally of Whitney, was the loving mother of Aaron (Shelly) Hovinga of Lake St. Peter, Tarrah (Kyle) Hovinga of Whitney, and Lindsay-Ann (Matt) Gendron of Port Severn. Loved grandmother of Coral (Jordan), Sierra (Brady), Alaina, Karmyn, Ainsley and Rhys. Great-grandmother of Jarrett, Oaklyn and Isaac. Sister of Richard (Liz) Plumley. Predeceased by her parents James and Luella Plumley, her granddaughter Amelia Angel, and her stepfather Alfred Dillenbeck. Joan’s family will receive relatives and friends at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth), on Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Lynn Watson officiating. Interment will take place at Union Cemetery, Whitney. Due to COVID-19, visitation and service restrictions will be in place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Francis Valley Heath Care Foundation (Valley Manor) would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.
