It is with great sadness that the family of Horace Clayton Allen, 85, of First Peninsula, announces his passing on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Lunenburg he was the son of the late Wilfred and Floretta (Hiltz) Allen.
Horace had a varied working career and over the years he worked at Powers Brothers Ltd; Riverport Seafoods, the Lunenburg Academy, Bridgewater Dodge, the Lunenburg Curling Club and Bluenose Golf Club; the Bridgewater Golf and Country Club and retired from the Old Town Golf Club in Bridgewater.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, and found the greatest pleasure spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, golfing, curling and enjoying a good cup of coffee with friends at Tim Hortons.
Horace is survived by his son, Tony (Jacqueline) Allen, Pleasantville; grandchildren, Dylan, Brittany and Samara (Tommy); great grandchildren, Hannah, Dallas, Abel, Ayden, Lilla, Audrey, DeAndre, Malia and Cataleya.
He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen in 2003 and a sister, Eleanor.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A public graveside service to celebrate Horace’s life will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. Covid-19 Restrictions to apply.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Health Services Foundation or to the Pleasantville Fire Department.
