Henry Patrick ‘Bud’ O’Halloran

O’Halloran, Henry Patrick
“Bud” – 89, Sand Point, Guysborough County,
passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Born in New Glasgow,
April 5, 1931, he was the son of the late James P. Holloran and
Margaret E. (Delhanty) Carter, of Sand Point. He was the
last surviving member of his immediate family.
In his early days, he worked in Toronto, returning to Sand
Point in 1960 with his wife and three sons. He worked in
various capacities, retiring in 1994 from a 25-year career with
Transport Canada, Canadian Coast Guard Marine Aids.
Dad could turn his hand to anything mechanical whether it be
automotive or wherever the need arose. He had an interest in
reading, history, motorcycles and antique cars. In his early
years Bud raced stock car, No. 77, at Havre Boucher
Speedway. He was a founding member of the Seven Communities
Volunteer Fire Department, Hadleyville. As a marine aids
technician with the CCG, he maintained lighthouses in NS and PEI.
Through his work in various communities he enjoyed the travel and
meeting local people and made many friends.
He is predeceased by siblings, a sister in infancy, Sara E.
(Peters) Herbison and James E. Holloran; step-father, George
Carter.
Dad is survived by our mother, Marilyn (Ball)
O’Halloran; sons, Glenn (Cindy), Sand Point; Jamie (Daphne
Thomas), Windsor Junction; Wade (Kim) Sand Point; daughter, Janice
(Howard) Mersey, Lower Sackville; also survived by grandchildren,
Glenn David ,Mount Pearl, NL; Lauren and Melissa, Calgary, AB; Kyle,
Halifax; Emma, Sand Point; Sarah, Halifax; Jonathan Grady, Beaverbank;
Liam, Windsor Junction; six great-grandchildren; nephews and
nieces.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Guysborough
Memorial Hospital for the excellent care they provided Dad over the
past several weeks. We extend thanks to family, friends and neighbours
for kindnesses shown to Dad in any way.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. In keeping with
Bud’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or service.
Burial to be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Seven Communities
Volunteer Fire Department, Hadleyville, or charity of
choice.
