Henry was born in Poland in 1925 and grew up in the city of Tomaszow-Mazowiecki. As a young adult, he and his immediate family were refugees in Germany for a short period, where he met his future wife. The family immigrated to Canada in 1948 sponsored by Henry’s uncle Alfons and aunt Olga and settled in Winnipeg. A man of great determination and practicality, Henry adapted to life in his new country with enthusiasm. He took great pride in being a Canadian.
With his brother, Henry established a successful tailoring business which served clients in the Winnipeg area for 45 years. He was an elder for the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer congregation after having been their treasurer several times. In his retirement, he and daughter Diana often travelled internationally. He took joy in his immediate and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Heart & Stroke Manitoba.
