Henriette’s Obituary
It is with much sadness, we mourn the loss of our mother, Henriette Schaff, on Sept 24, in Fairview at the age of 97 years.
She was born on March 30, 1924, in Biggar, Saskatchewan.
Henriette was a member of the Last Lake Ladies Aid for 35 years and a member of the Catholic Women’s League for 67 years, as a member of Our Lady of Fatima Council in Strome, Alberta, and the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Council in Whitelaw, Alberta, where she served as the secretary for 34 years.
Widowed in 1961, she moved to Brownvale, after marrying Mathias Schaff in 1966. Mom loved living on a farm again, where she could indulge her love of gardening, raising chickens and painting flowers, usually pansies, on anything that could be recycled, vases, saws and rocks. She also loved doing embroidery and collecting recipes. Her drawings, painting, embroidery and baking skills won many awards at local agricultural fairs.
Henriette is survived by her two sons; Brian (Emilie Case), Charlie (Lila) Case, Three daughters; Alice (Hans) Mullink, Jean Rodgers, Mary (Russell) Starnes, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husbands; Pranas Gudaitis and Mathias Schaff, parents; Romeo and Odille (Tinant) Ferland, siblings; Leonie Morley, Art Ferland, Alice Gratton-Stein, Theresa Haas, Georgette Evanoff, Morris Ferland, and Andy Ferland.
