Helga van Oostveen was born on July 1st 1971 in Goes, the Netherlands. In 1981 she moved with her family to Canada, settling in Nanaimo, BC. While attending the National Science Olympics in Ottawa in 1988 – which her team won – she met Ryan Papp. In 2001 they moved to Clearwater, where Helga soon started her own business, Clearwater Soap Works. Helga loved inventing new products and sharing her vast knowledge. In 2008, Ryan and Helga were thrilled to welcome their daughter Sabrina. Helga was a devoted and dedicated mother who homeschooled Sabrina while working fulltime at her business. She loved to garden, be outside with her animals, and share the beauty of Clearwater with her daughter and husband.
Helga will be forever missed by Ryan and Sabrina, her parents Kees and Aggie, sister Inge (John), brother-in-law Russell (Jessica), her family and friends, and her Hill Climb team.
A celebration of Helga’s life will be held at a future date.
