Obituary of Helen Marie Litwiller
Passed away peacefully at Freeport Campus on September 11, 2021.
Helen was born in Baden on February 27, 1927 to Simeon Steinman and Elvena Schrag. On June 29, 1946 she married her beloved husband Oliver Litwiller (died October 16, 2004).
They were blessed with two children, Bonnie and her husband Doug Satchell of Gadshill and Debbie and her husband Patrick Fitzgerald of Waterloo. Proud grandmother of Michael, Shawn and his wife Dianne, Julie, Sean and Jay and great-grandmother of Crystal (Steve), Chuck, Connor, Noah and Nicholas. Predeceased by great-grandson Kian.
Prior to her retirement in 1987 Helen worked at Waterloo Mutual Insurance. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.
She was the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by one brother and five sisters, Wilfred Steinman, Ermma (Curtis) Sommers, Mildred (Howard) Ranck, Viola (Sidney) Iutzi, Leona (Edgar) Hoerle and Doris (Donald) Krafchek. Predeceased by the Litwiller family (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law), Harold (Pearl) Litwiller and Mahlon (Ruth) Yantzi. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Kaye Steinman and Marilyn Hoerle.
A private family service was held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo with interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
A special thank you to all the staff at Beechwood Manor, St. Mary’s General Hospital and Grand River Hospital – Freeport Campus for their care and support.
