Obituary of Helen Darby
November 6, 1927 – May 21, 2021
Peacefully at Perth Community Care Centre, Perth, ON, the former Helen McDonell in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Darby. Lifetime loving mother to Sharon (Don) Bell, Diane (Jamie) Ross, Patricia (Dave) Bradshaw, Gary (Janet Coutts) Darby. Helen is survived and will be missed by brother Ken MacDonell (Gail Pearce), 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Mildred (Darby) (late Keith) Mott and Jean (Coleman) (Late Earl) Darby. She was predeceased by her sister Marie (Harry) Young, and brothers Herbert, Cecil (Leola Benedict), Roy (Audrey Larmon), Ronald (Annie White), and Carl.
Raised on a farm near Clarendon, ON, the importance of hard work and family values, forever remained with Helen. She was a dedicated secretarial employee of Perth and District High School, and provided countless hours of volunteer service as a Perth Lionette, to the St. James Anglican Church and the GWM Hospital Auxiliary.
Helen was a creative quilter and sewer and she enjoyed travelling, gardening and cottage life with Gord at Black Lake. She was always pleased and ready to welcome family.
A private family service will be held on Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. in the Blair & Son Funeral Chapel, Perth. Those wishing are invited to join the service by zoom link which will be available Tuesday May 25th on this site. Interment Crawford Cemetery.
