Obituary for Helen Margaret McMahon
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Margaret McMahan/McMahon (née Jackson) on November 20, 2021 at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, Ontario at 93 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Howard F. McMahan/McMahon. Loving mother of Eleanor, David, Charles, Margaret, Lucy and Martyn; grandmother of Shelby, Stephen, Jeffrey, Jennifer, and Patrick; great grandmother of Montana and Jake. Predeceased by brothers Wesley E. and Howard L. Jackson and parents William D. and Emily M. Jackson (née Goudie). Helen also leaves behind sister-in-law Gloria Jackson, nephew Glenn Jackson and niece Brenda Jackson-Tapley, as well as many grand nieces and nephews.
Helen was born in Petrolia and lived her entire life in Plympton-Enniskillen townships of Lambton County. For many years she was a free-lance reporter and photographer for community newspapers. She was a travel enthusiast and avid reader who enjoyed books, reciting poetry, music, quilting, genealogy and her work with local libraries. With love and fond remembrance, Helen’s ashes will be laid to rest within the family plot at Wyoming Public Cemetery. A graveside service and celebration of life will be held for immediate family at a future date. Condolences and remembrances may be left on the Needham-Jay Funeral Home website: www.needhamjay.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends a donation to Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital Foundation (www.ceehf.ca), or planting a tree as a tribute.
