Passed away at home with her loving sisters by her side on November 19, 2021 at the age of 96. Jenny was born in Biddulph Township on January 9, 1925 to parents Patrick Heenan and Mary (McIlhargey) Heenan. She will be lovingly missed by her sisters, Sister Rita C.S.J, and Rose. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Frank and Mary Lou Heenan, Pat and Teresa Heenan, Mary and Jim Barns, Anne and Scott Chambers, and Elaine and Al Henderson. Also, by her extended family. Predeceased by her sisters, Sister Mary, Sister Delphine, and Sister Lauretta (all Sisters of St. Josephs, London), brothers James, Zacharia, Patrick, and William and parents Patrick and Mary.
Genevieve was a graduate of Lucan High School and London Teachers College, she continued and completed her education at University of Western Ontario. She was an enthusiastic teacher and taught in London, Petrolia, and Sarnia for over 30 years. Jenny settled down moving to the farm home and then in 2002 retied to her home in Lucan.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Daniel Leger and his team for the care and kindness they provided to Jenny during her illness and also to the many caregivers that helped her in her final days.
Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Monday, November 22nd from 2-4 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 23rd at 11 AM with Father Steve Wlusek, officiating. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP for the visitation and funeral, please click “Register Now” below to register. Following the service there will be a reception at the Lucan Community Centre. Due to Provincial COVID-19 proof of vaccination restrictions, each person must show proof that they are fully vaccinated to attend the reception. Proof of vaccination can be attained by visiting covid19.ontariohealth.ca.
At family request memorial donations are not required but if requested please donate to a charity of your choice.
