Obituary
Catherine Heather (Hes) Belle Mackie
August 26, 1953 – September 25, 2021
Hes, the first of four children of Gordon Mackie and Margaret (nee Willox) Mackie, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, following an admirable journey with cancer. Despite many medical challenges, Hes displayed a remarkable ability to enjoy each day and found great joy and comfort with her friends and family and, most importantly, her precious cat, Hootie. Hes will be remembered by all for her love of the Beatles, reading, music, games and marijuana.
She had a poet’s soul, a science fiction writer’s creativity and the heart of a hippie.
She will be deeply missed by her brother, Craig (Jane), her sisters Holly (Keith) and Bonnie, dear friends Garcea and Mike, nephews Chris, Rob, Mike and their families as well as numerous extended family members across the globe.
Hes was a best friend…..a kind, open, accepting and compassionate soul who had that rare gift of truly listening to others and allowing them to be exactly who they are….. “Right on”, Hes!
The family would like to thank the staff of the Gimli Health Centre, her oncology team and a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Coyle.
As per her wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Cancer Care Manitoba or the charity of your choice.
