Hattie G Hubley 19252021

Hattie G. Hubley
1925-2021
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of the
matriarch of the family, Hattie Hubley of
Amherst Shore, NS on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the age of 95.
Everyone loved “Granny Hattie”.
Born in Minudie, NS, she was the youngest daughter of the
late Florence (Field) (Gordon) Bell and the late Frederick Gordon. She
was predeceased by sister Claire, sister Ruby Betts, and twin brother
and sister Frank Gordon and Frances Lowther. Hattie was the last
surviving member of her family.
After the war, Hattie married Edward Hubley and they settled
in Chapman Settlement to raise a family. She worked hard her whole
life raising her children, quilting, knitting, painting and
wallpapering, gardening and running the household. As her children got
older, Hattie ventured into housecleaning, traveling to Amherst daily;
she had many clients who became good friends. Her energy was endless;
cleaning cottages in the spring/summer often included moving a boat
outdoors by herself, something she chuckled at in later years. She
continued housecleaning well into her senior years.
Hattie was always up for company and a good cup of tea. She
loved playing cards, Yahtzee, Bingo and slot machines; especially the
ones in Las Vegas! She enjoyed the challenge of doing large,
complicated puzzles and was feisty to the end.
Hattie will be dearly missed by her daughters, Donna Brown
who cared for her mom the last 3 1/2 years, Sharon Hubley (Roy
Embree), Spirit River, AB, Barb (Keith) Davis, Port Howe, NS, and
Frances Johnston, Grande Prairie, AB.
She was predeceased by Edward in 1982, her only son Donald in
2019, her eldest daughter Edith in 2018, son-in-law Don Brown, former
sons-in-law Fred Brown and Ronald MacDonald.
She will also be greatly missed by special niece Edna Embree,
daughter-in-law Carolyn Hubley, son-in-law John Graham and former
daughter-in-law Pearl Richardson. Granny Hattie leaves a huge legacy
of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews; she fiercely loved them all.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones
Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS
(902-667-8777). A public funeral will be held on Saturday, April 17,
2021 at 2 pm from the Jones Family Funeral Centre, Wayne Jarvis, DLM,
officiating. Pre-Registration is required. Please call the funeral
