Hartland’s Obituary
On March 16th, 2021 our lives were forever changed when we the family announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend Hartland Charles Skinner at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL at the age of 86 years. Born in Richard’s Harbour, NL, Hartland was the son of the late Reid and Violet Skinner (nee Simms). He was also predeceased by his wife; Bertha Skinner in 2016, father and mother-in-law; Alexander and Alice Organ (nee Green), daughter-in-law; Lorraine Organ, grandson; Taylon Hartland Kinslow, brother; Freeman Skinner, sisters; Harriet Strickland, and Ethel Leamon.
A proud father, he will forever remain in the hearts of his children Monford Organ (Crystal), Alex (Wanda) Skinner all of Isle aux Morts, NL, Sylvia (Eric) Walters of Rose Blanche, NL, Linda (Calvin) LeFrense, Hartley (Mildred) Skinner, Ross (Denise) Skinner all of Isle aux Morts, NL, Lavena (Reid) Brekkas of Fort St. John BC, Don (Colleen) Skinner of Kamloops, BC, Eugene (Jennifer) Skinner of Fort St. John, BC. He will also be sadly missed by his 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Hartland also leaves behind his brothers; Hiriam (Beatice) Skinner, Hubert (Laura) Skinner, sisters; Eva Ricketts, Linda Skinner, Laura Piercey all of Burgeo, NL, and a large circle of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thank you to the staff of the Long Term Care Unit at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre for the care and compassion shown to Hartland during his stay.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 19th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 20th at 2 p.m. from the Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts officiated by Bishop John Organ assisted by Rev. Nathan Cutler. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Hartland’s memory can be made to the Holy Spirit Anglican Church.
