Obituary of Harry C. Alway
Alway, Harry C. – Of St. Thomas, ON, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Dorothy (née Bell) Alway. Dearly loved father of Darlene Oke (James), Raymond Alway, and Merrilee Fishback (John). Cherished grandfather of Breanna (Gabriel), Kevin, Tressa (Michael), Alex, and Xandria. Dear brother of Edward “Ted” Alway (late Erna) (late Doreen) and the late Ron Alway (Eileen Spitzke) (Bill), and brother-in-law of Dr. Aletta Bell. Also fondly remembered by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by in-laws Lorelie Downey (Marvin), Effie McTavish (Robert), Milton Bell (Jean), Ruby Alexander (Harold), Archibald Bell, Gordon Bell (Anne), Sheila Westlake (Al). Born in Lobo Township, ON, February 25, 1932, he was a son of the late John and Doris (née Newman) Alway. Harry was a farmer and property manager for many years. He was an active member of Eastwood Baptist Church, St. Thomas. A small family visitation and funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160), followed by private interment in the St. Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue.
