Obituary
Hanora (Noreen) Beresford of Hillsburgh, aged 84, passed away early Sunday, December 26, 2021 after a short stay at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James (Seamus); son David (wife Mary); grandchildren Seamus, Henry and Katy; sister Maura Baldwin and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents James and May Burke; brother Liam; step brother Pat and step sister Pearl.
Noreen was a warm and loving person whose door was always open to surprise visitors. A pot of tea and a tray of treats were quick to appear. Her dinners were an event and elegantly presented. Receiving a bouquet of flowers brought her great joy.
Acquaintances quickly became friends and friends were treated like family. Age was not a factor – her friends ranged from young to old. Conversations were always interesting and animated covering politics, current events and funny past memories. Her biggest joy were visits from the children of family and friends. Even as her health declined, the antics of a young child could still bring a smile to her face.
Noreen will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Slán leat, Noreen.
Arrangements entrusted to MacIntyre Family Funeral Home, 5399 Wellington Road 52, Erin. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday December 29, 2021 from St. John Brebeuf Church, 24 Millwood Road, Erin at 11 a.m. Due to Covid-19 protocols, the church will be at 50% capacity, face coverings are mandatory and double vaccinations are required. Memorial donations can be In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Society.
