Hannelore Margot Anders
July 16, 1926 – January 20, 2021
Peacefully in her 95th year, our beloved mother passed on to sing with the heavenly choir of angels. Predeceased by her loved husband, Oswald (2011) after 60 years of marriage. Cherished mother of Juliane (Harold Gruneberg), Cornelia ( Harry Lockstadt), Rebecca (Gian Carlo Del Chiaro), Michael (Brenda Bodin) and Claudia (Martin Witzke). Survived by 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In her last years, our mom lived independently in her own home, proudly driving her own car and staying up to date with technology. She loved reading, baking, gardening, watching her favorite shows on television and also her many excursions to the beach at Lake Huron. Her love of music, nature and flowers was an inspiration to her family.
Each morning, she held up every person in her family in prayer. Family gatherings were very important to her. She had a beautiful, clear soprano voice and especially enjoyed singing in the Philharmonic and in other choirs.
In Germany, she first trained in business and then later also became a Kindergarten teacher. In 1955, Hannelore and Oswald emigrated to Canada from Germany, living in Winnipeg, Manitoba for the first ten years and then settling in Kitchener. After raising her children, Hannelore returned to the work force, enjoying her years as an administrative assistant at Conestoga College. After their retirement, our parents enjoyed summers at MBC in Muskoka and winters in Florida.
Our family is grateful to the ICU staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for their tender care of our mother in these last two weeks. They graciously provided opportunities for Zoom calls, where we sang songs to her and expressed to her how much we loved her.
A private service will take place next Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home in Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
