Gwendolyn Ann Currey 2021

Obituary for
Gwendolyn Ann Currey
It is with profound sadness the family of Gwendolyn Ann Currey of Sangudo, AB, formerly of Summit Lake, BC, announces her passing on April 26, 2021, at the age of 64 years.
Gwen will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her husband, Dale; daughter, Leanne Dawn of Christina Lake, BC; son, Jason Michael (Jennifer) of Chestermere, AB; grandchildren, Scarlett Mae, Gibson Hawk and Fletcher Foxx; brother-in-law, Don; nephew, Sean (Leah); niece, Kristy; great-niece, Mackenzie; and her many dear friends across Canada and the U.S.A.
Gwen was predeceased by her infant grandson, Spencer Arthur; parents, Rod and Wilma “Billie” Chalmers; and her sister, Nancy.
Gwen was a caring and compassionate mother, and her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She was a great friend to all who knew and loved her; being friends with Gwen meant you became a part of the family. Gwen also invited every animal, whether stray or rescue, 4-legged or winged, into her heart and home. Gwen especially loved hummingbirds and they followed her into the house when she refilled their feeders. Gwen’s nursing career at the Mayerthorpe General provided her the opportunity to share her extraordinary skill at always putting her patients comfort first; she will be long remembered by all those who benefitted from her care.
Gwen had an adventurous spirit and loved exploring new places and activities wherever she travelled. As an avid reader, she loved picking up the latest novel to dip into the written adventures until her next road trip. Gwen will remain in the hearts and minds of her family, her friends and everyone she met; she was taken too soon, and she will be forever remembered and loved.
Thank you to the paramedics of Associated Ambulance (Mayerthorpe) and STARS Air Ambulance, and the doctors and staff of Unit 5A7 at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute for the exceptional care and support shown to Gwen and the family.
Celebration of Gwen’s Life will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 5111 – 45 Avenue, Mayerthorpe, AB. RVSP by July 28 to the family if you plan to attend.
In lieu of other tributes, donations in Gwen’s memory would be appreciated to STARS – Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service Foundation, Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Calgary, AB T2E 8M7.
