It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Gregory Bruce Gniewotta at the age of 56 on May 15, 2021 with his wife, Carrie Timmermand at his side. Along with Carrie, Greg is survived by his father, Ed; brothers, Floyd (Pum) and Terry (Dawn); stepson, Cody (Amanda); grandchildren, Abigail, Alixzander, Kaleena, Karill, Rylan and Elara; brother-in-law, Len (Bev) Timmermand; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Ron) La Fournie. Greg will also be deeply missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Greg was predeceased by his mother, Lena (nee Hallson); and stepdaughter, Michele McDonald (fiancé, Denis Frawley).
Greg was born in Vancouver, moved to Keremeos in 1968 and four years later to Westbank, BC. In 2001 he relocated to Edmonton, AB for work. It was here that Greg met Carrie in 2008.
Greg was a gentle giant with a kind heart and quiet demeanor but had a very competitive streak when challenged at pool. His love for motorcycles, especially his Indian, took him and Carrie on many adventures with the season always ending at the Annual Toy Run. He also loved music, rock concerts and travel which took them to visit family and friends in BC and Las Vegas with several trips to the tropics.
Following the passing of their daughter, Greg and Carrie took on the role of raising their oldest grand-daughter, Abby. Abby instantly became Greg’s shadow, helping him in the yard, painting, laying a new floor, trying to beat him at pool or just watching a movie, they were always together. Greg never had children of his own, so having the opportunity to raise Abby and be a strong father figure was one of his greatest joys.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no funeral at this time and a gathering of family and friends will be announced once restrictions have lifted. Please share your memories, condolences or humorous stories about your adventures with Greg below.

Awww, this is so, so sad and my heart is so full of sadness for you and Abby. You were such an amazing couple, such an amazing little family.
