Obituary
Our hearts are broken with the sudden death on May 19, 2021 of Grayson John and Charlotte Marie after their premature birth on May 18, 2021. Born after close to 24 weeks in the care of their mother Lexi’s womb and under the attentive eye of their father Brandon, these precious gifts entered the world fighting for their tender lives.
Each of these precious children were dedicated and blessed before they breathed their last with these verses: Charlotte, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” (Psalm 91: 1-2). Grayson, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12: 9). We are heartbroken with their loss, yet we trust in these words of dedication that were spoken over their tiny lives that God gave us for such a brief time. We are comforted in the knowledge that they are at rest in the arms of Jesus.
Grieving Grayson and Charlotte’s loss are their parents, Brandon and Lexi Cautius; their grandparents, Ron and Cheryl Cautius and Paul and Claudia Mittelstaedt; their great grandparents, uncles and aunt, Jeffrey, Trevor and Ryan Cautius, Natascha and Michael Mittelstaedt; along with many other close relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 1:00 PM at Pine Hills Cemetery in Toronto, ON. Due to COVID restrictions only immediate family will be present and the service will be available on Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home channel on YouTube following the service.
The families are so very grateful for the excellent care provided by the birthing team at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital and the Neonatal ICU team at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton who did everything they could to protect Lexi in childbirth and to preserve the lives of these little ones. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Grayson John and Charlotte Marie Cautius online to McMaster Children’s Hospital.
