Obituary
Grant Allan Yopek passed away November 12, 2021, at home with his family by his side. He was 62 years old. Grant was born in Drumheller, Alberta, to parents Rudy and Anna Yopek. Grant met his wife (Kathy) in 1977 while both were working on highway 40 North. They married in August 1978 and their son (Danny) was born in 1982. They lived in Hinton, AB for 29 years, raising their son.
Grant and Kathy enjoyed exploring the outdoors, quadding, camping and fishing, most recently cruising in the Jeep with their devoted lab Cooper. His true passion was wood working. He built many things for their home and yard. He was the best husband, father, grandpa, uncle, brother and son. Grant loved family more than anything, he always said: “If you need me, just call.”
Working in the mining industry, after a brief stint in oilfield trucking, he returned to mining. He was an accomplished surface mine blaster, mastering his profession over the years. For the past 3 years he was very honored to be a part of setting up and managing the blasting department at the Vista Mine in Hinton.
Our lives have forever changed because of the hole in our hearts. The memories we have will give us the strength to continue without you.
“We love you 4-ever”
Kathy, Danny, Trish and Ethyn.
