Gorzny Zygmunt ‘Ziggy’ September 17th 2021

Gorzny, Zygmunt ‘Ziggy’
September 17th, 2021
Passed away at University Hospital in London on Friday, September 17, 2021, in his 96th year. Ziggy was the last surviving member of eight children and was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gertrude “Trudie” (née Hermanutz). He is survived by his sons: Raymond, of New Hampshire and Daniel, of Windsor; daughters: Sonja, of Red Deer, Alberta and Veronica; his stepchildren: Eva, Luise and Philipp, and their families. Also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ziggy will forever be remembered by his two nieces, Trudy Gorzny and Marta Hargrove, who loved and assisted him in his final years in London. He will also be missed by relatives and friends in Germany. Ziggy was a longtime resident of Windsor and a former General Motors employee until his retirement in 1989. He had a love of travel and this, combined with his ability to tell stories, was one of his greatest joys. Alas, a stroke robbed him of his ability to speak clearly and took away the enjoyment of storytelling in his last few years. In spite of this, his kind and helpful manner remained and will be missed by many. At his request, cremation has taken place. A graveside family service will be held at a later date with interment at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Cemetery, Windsor. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ziggy are asked to consider a charity of your choice.
