1952-2021
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Gordon of Leamington. Gordon passed away in the arms of his children on Thursday February 18 2021 after a brief battle with cancer, at Victoria Hospital, London. Loving husband of Elaine (Akins). Devoted and cherished father to Doreen Rivest, Richard, Kevin (Cassandra), Joanne Najim (Dominic), Jeremy Steel, Andrea McKinlay (John) and Michael. Adored and loving Grandfather to Nicole, Adam, Kali, Karissa, Kody, Tyson, Parker,Vianca, Kayden, Taylor, Ryan, Josh, Jagger, Porter, Portia, Abigail, and Malia. Predeceased by his parents, Russell (2000) and Laverne Steel (2008), brothers Jamie Steel(2000), Russell Steel(2004), sister Amy McGae(2014) and grandson Kenneth(1984). He is survived by his loving sisters Stephanie Neubacher (late Howie 2020) and Vickie Grimaldi (David) and brother Jay Dandron (Diane). Gordon will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. After 35 years of service, Gordon retired from H.J Heinz Company. Most of those years were spent mentoring young eager to learn individuals who he shaped into the great millwrights and the men they are today. He enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting with his great group of wild, lifelong friends. He was a very humble man who put his heart and soul into his family. He loved nothing more than watching his grandchildren grow providing his guidance and support to his family when it was needed. His guiding hand will be on their shoulders forever. He was tough as nails but deep down he was known as a gentle giant. He was an amazing man that will leave us at a great loss now that he is gone. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to Dr Eaton and staff as well as the dedicated ICU staff at Victoria Hospital, for the care he received.A Special thanks to Highbury Canco for honouring Gords years of dedication by lowering their flag to half mast. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell Street, Leamington (519-326-2631) on Monday February 22, 2021 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Livestream of service available at www.reidfuneralhome.ca. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions, visitation and funeral is limited to a specific number of visitors. Only those with an appointment will be allowed in. Please book an appointment at www.reidfuneralhome.ca All visitors must remain in their cars in our parking lot until their designated time and one of our staff members comes to invite you into our facility. Everyone must wear a mask. Memorial donations may be made by cheque to Erie Shores Hospice. Friends may share memories or make donations at www.reidfuneralhome.ca
