Gordon Raymond “Ray”‘s Obituary
ALLEN, Gordon Raymond “Ray” ~ Age 74, of Kingston, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Friday, February 12, 2021, at home. Born in Fredericton Junction, N.B., he was a son of the late Gordon W. and Pearl J. (Nason) Allen. Ray had served his country in the Royal Canadian Naval Air Service and was proud to have served on H.M.C.S. Bonaventure and H.M.C.S. Saguenay. During his 27 years of service he was posted at various locations in Canada, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. Ray was later employed for several years at Middleton Home Hardware. He was an active outdoorsman enjoying time spent hunting, fishing, canoeing and was the founder of Annapolis Paddlers Canoe Club. Ray was thoughtful and loving with a great sense of humour and will be missed by his family. Surviving are his wife of 51 years the former Rose M. O’Brien; son, Joseph (Mandy) Allen, Bridgewater; daughter, Michelle (Ryan) White, Middleton; grandchildren, Shelby (Reid), Cody, Hillary, Ava, Myles, Catie and Caleb; sisters, Edith (Alden) Thomas, Upper Kingsclear, N.B.; Elaine (Bill) Humble, Hoyt, N.B.; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth (Lloyd) Whittaker. A private family gathering to honour Ray’s life will take place at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
