It is with deep sadness that we, the family of the late Gordon Hibbert, announce his passing on October 11, 2021. Born in New Waterford on September 21, 1950, he was the son of the late Johnny and Sarah (Hall) Hibbert.
Gordie was a bartender, as well as a worker at the bingo hall. He loved playing Santa Claus on Christmas Eve and would go around visiting throughout the community. He played darts, loved singing Happy Birthday, and was a lifetime member of the Army, Navy, Airforce in New Waterford.
Gordon is survived by his wife Nancy (Cousins); sons Trevor, Cory; daughters Sarah (Robert), Joanne; grandchildren Stacey, Greyson, Noah, Mathew; sister Joanne (Andrew) Meunier; brothers Charlie, Bernie, Blair, Lorne (Michelle), Calvin, Jeffrey; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special nieces Wendy McPherson and Kelly Hibbert.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Beatrice, Theresa ‘Missy’; brothers Donnie, Bobby, Eddie.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 18, 2021, from 6-8pm. A chapel service will be held on Tuesday, October 19 at 11am with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Masks as well as proof of Covid double vaccination are mandatory.
Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Army, Navy, Airforce on Smith Street.
Donations in Gordie’s memory can be made to the Heart and Lung, or Kidney Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
