Gibbings, John Douglas ‘Doug’

Peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Marjorie for 57 years. Loving Dad of Kim Gibbings and Keri (Graeme) Selkirk. Missed by his sisters, Jean Dolmage and Betty Ann Miller; and sisters-in-law, Mary Gibbings and Greta Baker. Predeceased by his parents, Warren and Marie Gibbings; brother, Ken Gibbings; brothers-in-law, Ed Dolmage, Murray Baker, and Don McClure; and sister-in-law, Joyce McClure. Doug worked at Canada Trust for 38 years and has enjoyed farming since his retirement. A special thank you to all of the nurses and doctors at the London Regional Cancer Clinic and St. Elizabeth Health Care for their wonderful care and support. Cremation has taken place and Doug requested there be no service in respect of the current pandemic situation. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Doug are asked to consider Kilworth United Church or Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Centre.

Nancy NewmanI’m very sorry to read of Doug’s passing. I worked with and for him for many years at Canada Trust. He was a kind, and dedicated boss, and a true gentleman. He and I also worked together for a number of years on the Canadian Diabetes, fall fundraising event. We had many talks about our respective families, he was very proud of his girls. My heartfelt condolences to all of you.
