Gertrude Bertha Hamilton (Née Larche)
May 14th, 1929 – May 3, 2021
During Gertie’s journey of 92 years she has graced so many with her love, laughter, and caring spirit.
Our beloved Mother lost her short battle with COVID on May 3rd, sadly leaving us with broken hearts, but many beautiful memories.
A little country gal from Aylwin, Quebec, journeyed from farm to city, with many moves along the way. Gertie enjoyed a wonderful, and comfortable, life in her current home in Orleans, Ontario with her son Richard Hamilton for the last 28 years.
Her love of children gave her the ability to provide many little people, over 29 years, with a warm welcoming heart as she devoted her days to the Overbrook Daycare. She began this job opportunity at 50 years of age and retired in her 79th year, never losing a passion and love for her work.
Mom lived her life entirely for her loving family. Grandchildren and great grandchildren they were a highlight to her life, as each one came into this world.
Her unassuming, humble nature was always grounded with a bit of mischievous behaviour, as she loved to share stories of her life on the farm. She embraced her social visits with friends and family, reminiscing while creating new memories to share. Her many travels across Canada kept a close connection with family while enjoying the experience. Yes, truly an amazing Mom, and friend, with open ears and heart.
You can take the girl off the farm, yet you cannot take the farm out of the girl. When a fiddle played , her father’s gift of music transported Mom to become the music. If Dolly sang her “Coat of Many Colors”, Mom would reflect on her own mother, and the hardships she endured with very little, yet had the gift to sew and create Mom’s clothes of many colors.
Mom you have secured a place in all our hearts that we will forever treasure.
Gertrude leaves behind a brother Paul Larche; her children, Veronica, Diane (Brian), Rick, Tim (Debbie), Sandy (Mark); her grandchildren, Kyle, Kelty, Tari/Chris, Trevor/Jerri, Chris/Jen, Ryan, Jenna/Adam, Rebekah, Aaron, and Elisa; great grandchildren, Hunter, Blake, Cooper, Kennedi, Kenzi, and Cash; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Gert is predeceased by her parents Harry Larche and Germaine Pinault; her spouse, Keith Hamilton; her son-in-law, Mark Roberts; as well as, her sister Noella Larche-Martin, and two brothers, Daniel and Andrew Larche.
