Gerda Sievers Borghoff May 16 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother, Gerda, (nee Borghoff) in her 79th year, on May 16th, 2021, in Kitchener, Ontario. She is predeceased by her parents Jacob and Christina Borghoff. Gerda immigrated to Canada in 1954 from Apeldoorn, Holland and settled in Scotland, Ontario. Dearly beloved mother of Jackie (Bill), Annette (Rajeev), Jennifer (Bob). Grammie to Courtney (Dan), Tyler (Emily), Erika (Isaac), Natasha (Andrew), Arun and Sarita. Great Grammie to Lucy. Adoringly remembered by her brother Frank (Johanne) and her sister Christina. Gerda was an amazing aunt and cousin. She is fondly remembered by her former husband Edward Sievers and was an affectionately cherished friend of Inta Lusis, Nellie Templin and Mary Walker.
Mom worked outside the home in the restaurant service and retail sales industries. She had a great love of dogs and cats, gardening and cooking. Her positivity continued to shine even when faced with an auto -immune disorder. Gerda always had a smile on her face and never hesitated to help others.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford, Ontario. In lieu of flowers donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation- Renal Unit and Kitchener Humane Society. Keith Ovington 519-449-1112 www.keithovington.ca
