Obituary of Gerald Alfred Marks
With heavy hearts the family of Gerald Alfred Marks announces his death, which occurred on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bloomfield, NB, on March 25, 1949, he was the son of the late Alfred and Helen (Boyle) Marks.
Gerald joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1967, then after marrying his lifelong love Doreen, he went on to work at Strescon for 45 years. He was a devoted father to Dwayne, always involved, a wealth of knowledge and steady as a rock. For many years, they were avid campers and CB radio enthusiasts, always making memories and lifelong friends. Gerald had a big smile, a grateful and humble heart and was always ready to offer help to anyone who needed it. He was friendly, kind, never complained, hard working and loved those close to him deeply. He is woven into the fabric of our daily lives and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all the special friends at the Kingston store.
Gerald is survived by his son Dwayne Marks and his wife Heather of Kingston, NB; cherished grandchildren: Brayden, Austin (Thea), Larissa (Sheldon), Laurel and Donald (Patty); great grandson Ethan; sisters: Veta Locke and her husband Winston of Saint John, NB and Debbie Long and her husband Kenny of Bloomfield, NB; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his loving wife Doreen Marks (Thompson); sister Judy Richard; and brother Mike Marks.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 2 to 5 & 6 to 8PM. A celebration of Gerald’s life will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 11:00am from Trinity Anglican Church, Kingston, NB. Interment will follow at Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery.
