Gerald Garfield ‘Jerry’ Andrews
1953-2021
ANDREWS, Gerald Garfield “Jerry”
– Age 67 of Guysborough, passed away
peacefully in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 3,
2021, after a short battle with cancer.
Our father was well known for his ability to fix just about
anything. If it could be fixed, Jerry would be the one who could do
it. He worked for many years as a mechanic but was truly a jack of all
trades. His camp was his haven. He was an avid hunter and fisherman,
who was forever telling us about the big one that got
away.
He always found a way to put a smile on everyone’s
faces. His jokes were endless and always made you laugh. No matter the
situation, he always had some advice to give even if you were not
looking for it.
The last 27 years of his life were spent with the love of his
life, Judy Kontuk. He always had to have her by his side and was lost
when she was not around.
He is survived by his common-law partner, Judy, Guysborough;
daughters, Crystal, Central West River; Tonia, Guysborough; stepsons,
Freddie (Violet), East Tracadie; Bradley (Jess), Trenton;
grandchildren, Amber, Marley, Miranda, Jacob, Emma, Willow, Baby
Freddy and Lyle-Edgar; great-grandson, Bradley aka “lil
Jerry”; brothers, Basil (Catherine), Dartmouth; Tory (Judy),
Linwood; sister, Ruth, Guysborough. He was predeceased by his mother,
Mary Andrews (nee Long); father, John Henry Andrews; brothers, Clair
(Bill), Edwin, Arthur, Wayne; sisters, Mary Alice, Eleanor, Hazel; as
well as three siblings in infancy, Theresa, Ronald and
Lawrence.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be 2 p.m.
Friday, July 9, from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church,
Guysborough with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial will
follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The
Canadian Cancer Society.
We would like to thank all the palliative care nurses of the
Guysborough Memorial Hospital for all their wonderful care and support
the provided us.
